Plans to engage more trained and certified mediators signal a continued focus on professionalism and the delivery of quality court-connected ADR services in Ghana.

The Judicial Service of Ghana has announced plans to recruit additional professional mediators to support the expansion of its Court-Connected Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR) programme.

The announcement was reported on May 5, 2026, following approval for the CCADR Secretariat to engage trained and certified mediators to strengthen the existing pool of practitioners across the country.

The development reflects an increasing emphasis on professional preparation and the quality of mediation services within the justice system. Rather than relying solely on recruiting individuals and training them after selection, the proposed approach places greater focus on engaging practitioners who already possess relevant training and certification.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Judicial Service and the national ADR Centre. Discussions included professional standards, capacity building, and the development of a national practice manual to help guide ADR procedures.

For people who use mediation services, the quality and impartiality of the process are essential. Mediators need appropriate skills to facilitate communication, manage difficult conversations, and help parties explore possible solutions without imposing their own preferences.

Building public confidence in ADR

Professional development and consistent standards can help strengthen confidence in mediation. As ADR services expand, public education must also grow so that individuals and organisations understand when mediation may be appropriate and how to access qualified practitioners.

Women and ADR supports efforts that encourage professionalism, fairness, and wider access to peaceful dispute resolution.
